plant a seed on a bark bench in
places of swing-sweats   pooling in      location
yards from    dandelion murderers wishing for
                                                                                clarified weeds

Melissa Jones was born and raised in Oakland, California. She recently received her M.F.A. in Creative writing at Mills College in Oakland. She was published in “The Womanist Journal,” a literary journal at Mills College. She was also published in “Torch Literary Magazine” and “SpringGun Press Journal.” She is a singer/songwriter and poet.
